Heartlander of the Week: I Love a Parade

This week’s award winner is the City of St. Louis and two guys, Craig Schneider and Tom Applebaum, who planned a Welcome Home Parade for Iraq War Vets.    They recognized that in the past, when Wars ended, there were parades to honor the returning troops as well as Vets who had already come home.  With no other celebration on the calendar in St. Louis, they started working the phones and the permits and planned a parade.

Let’s give ourselves the excuse that the weather is crappy this time of year in most parts of the country, and here’s hoping we get around to this a few more times in a few more places in a few more months.  🙂
