Note: I am changing the name of my weekly feature, having discovered that there is a pre-existing website of that name. (Eek.) That website is a bit more colorful. This is more of a family place, anyway.
The Heartlander of the week is Muskego for Ethical Government, for their work to oppose unpopular action by elected government.
The Common Council vote to spend $3.5 million to purchase two houses (yipes!) on Little Mukwongao Lake and turn the land into a park. Without going into lots of detail, there was considerable opposition to this action, apparent before the vote to approve.
The was some back and forth about the viability of the petition, whether the City would be bound to hold a referendum. There was talk of more petitions—of the recall kind. The Common Council met again tonight to reconsider the issue. We’ll see what happens.
Power to the People.
