You Might Be in a Recession if . . . .

Does anyone else remember Jeff Foxworthy and the “You Might Be a ______ if . . . ” Riff?

Here it goes

You Might Be in a Recession if . . .   Your Labor Force Participation Rate is the lowest in 30 years.

You Might Be in a Recession if . . .    Same Labor Force Participation Rate reflects huge growth in over 55s in the workplace and a demise of employment for mid-career and young workers.

You Might Be in a Recession if . . .    And if much of the job growth went to people too vulnerable to stand up to abusive employers.

You Might Be in a Recession if . . .   The only demographic seeing income growth is over 65’s.

You Might Be in a Recession if . . .    Thirty percent of homeowners are Underwater on their mortgage.

You Might Be in a Recession if . . .   Americans have lost forty percent of their net worth from 2007 to 2010 (last year for which data is available).

You Might Be in a Recession if . . .   You the economy only created 69,000 jobs in May.

You Might Be in a Recession if . . .   The one of the oldest, and whitest of the Wall Street White-shoe law firms goes under.  (And it is not the first one.)

Please stop saying that everything is fine when it is not.  And please stop pushing Mid-20th Century Socialism when that already failed.  The younger generations need something, too, so if you’re already on the bus, move over and make room, ‘cause it’s long past time for Everyone to have a seat.

Thanks.  🙂
