Well, here we are, seven years since Katrina when the levees failed and much of South Louisiana was inundated and only the Lord above really probably knows how many people actually died. And how many people were permanently damaged in heart and soul? How many people lost everything they had?
And it begins again. Stories of rescues of those who did not evacuate. I know enough about hurricanes at this point to understand why some people choose not to evacuate—concern about break-ins, honestly don’t realize that they are in the storm track or just how vulnerable their property is, can’t afford a hotel and the shelters are not that great. Please evacuate. Please.
My mind tells me it won’t be that bad this time. Maybe in fits and starts in one place or another it will be worse, but nothing really like 2005. Please.
