Workplace Wednesday: Special Mind Powers

As we begin a New Year, please, American Workforce, please, dispense with the, “I’m going to use my special powers of reasoning to play God,” method of workforce management.

The lead example of this is the Behavioral Interview.  Seriously, is anyone who conducts these things actually trained or qualified to run them?  An alternative would be to focus on skills, experience, and education.

Second place goes to running the workforce by Myers-Briggs.  Again, a psychological screening instrument meant to be used by  . . . . psychologists!!!!

Third place, “I haven’t actually asked so-and-so a direct question, but I know what their answer will be because I am the manager” method of making assignments, allocating training budget, and scheduling vacations.

Communication.  It’s so communicative.  🙂
