Workplace Wednesday: Addicted to the Drama

So it seems some very bright, rather frustrated, and wickedly sarcastic college student took the “Get Noticed” approach to cover letter writing on Monday.

Since, apparently, the Hive Mind Group Think of the 1% percent workplace was to instantly fish the thing around to “everybody” I thought I might as well jump on the bandwagon and write about it.

If you follow the chain of forwards and replies, apparently someone in Houston did call the kid.  Also on Monday.

Props to the kid for generating at least one interview.  Who knows, maybe even a summer job.

If he does get a summer job, I certainly hope it is paid.  It doesn’t seem likely anyone in that workplace (or any of the other workplaces involved in this meme)  are going to  be doing anything, so he might as well get paid.  I’m sure there will be tons of cool forwards in his work email account.  And Happy Hours and lunches at Smith & Wollensky’s.  And probably a lot of gossip about short skirts and thin blouses worn by various female interns and new hires and secretaries.  And likely a few trips to strip clubs with “the guys.”  And smoking cigars and drinking expensive scotch on the company account.

In sum, it will be an excellent introduction to Corporate America for an ambitious young man.  🙂
